Common premarriage questions

My parents are divorced but his are married. Does that have any impact on our chances of divorcing?

Research shows that couples where one of the parties has divorced parents are at greater risk of marital conflict and have about a 50% greater chance of divorce. Double that if both spouses are from divorced parents.  (Source: Wolfinger, N. H. (2004).  Understanding the divorce cycle: The children of divorce in their own marriages.  New York: Cambridge University Press.

The upside is you can do a lot of preventative work through marriage preparation so you don't land on the same issues your parents faced and experience the same outcome.
