The dilemmas of dating and dating the right person can be overwhelming
at times. The question of whether you're in the right relationship and
whether you have the confidence to move forward in that relationship are
issues that therapy can help with.

You may be moving closer in your relationship, or even decided that =
marriage is your next step. As positive a step as this is, it can also
highlight some of the more complicated aspects of a relationship. For
example, how do you manage issues relating to different ethnicities,
religious practices, or financial perspectives? As couples take that
next step towards commitment there is the desire and hope that some of
the challenges that arise during this time will get remedied. It's not
unusual for the pressure of planning a wedding, and a life together, to
result in communication difficulties and increased stress. There is
often more intense involvement with family members and difficult choices
to be made between their desires and your partners wishes. These
situations are not at all unusual for most couples and can cause
significant anxiety and doubts.

The opportunity to see a therapist for time limited sessions can prove
to be enormously helpful. Having a place and a person that a couple
trusts and feels comfortable with can create an alliance to ensure that
that you are all working towards the same goals, which can provide a
sense of relief during these anxiety provoking times. Being able to see
change, to develop improved communication tools and to learn to
"actively" listen fosters a greater sense of hope, safety and
reassurance in your relationship. Being a couple is an ongoing
developmental process and building safety and greater connection are
important building blocks in having a successful relationship.
