Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremony can either be simple; your religion dictates the entire thing, or it can be totally up to you. Some officiants and clergy have their common scripts and some ask you to insert personalized parts like readings or vows.

Many couples wait until most of the major wedding planning decisions have been made to tackle the ceremony itself. It can be the least or most fun, depending on what level of freedom you have or want. If you're stressed about wedding etiquette and tradition, you'll end up doing a lot of research.

Definitely consider talking to both sets of parents to see whether they have any assumptions or strong opinions. It may be as simple as a parent you thought could be a reader has serious stage fright and would rather watch, or perhaps a challenging stepmother would feel so honored to be a part of the ceremony - which keeps her off your back for other parts of the plannign process.
